When you close your eyes

  Oh, where do we begin?
The rubble or our sins?
And the walls kept tumbling down in the city that we love
Grey clouds roll over the hills bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes
Does it almost feel like nothing changed at all?

(Lyrics from Pompeii, sung by Bastille, written by Daniel Campbell Smith)

When we close our eyes do we as humanity see the flaws that cause our self-destruction?  Do we see the greed and selfishness within ‘the rubble of our sins’?  Do we see how much we have moved away from a moral code towards a world where money and sexualisation have literally become God?

The lyrics of the song Pompeii demonstrate how ‘nothing changed at all’ because the people never change their attitude, and instead repeat the same mistakes over and over and over again.  The town of Pompeii was destroyed by the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD.  However, it had already been badly damaged by an earthquake some years earlier, caused by similar volcanic activity.    At the time of the first eruption the people did not heed the warning and instead rebuilt on the rubble of the previous devastation, almost inviting the future destruction of the town and its inhabitants.

This notion of the ‘rubble of our sins’ applies both physically, as with Pompeii, and on a psychological level.  We continually adopt the same self-destructive behaviour, not only with continual wars but also on a personal level with relationships that bring us harm.  We turn a blind eye to the deeds of dreadful political leaders and continually allow similar to become powerful; we close our eyes to faults and problems and then, when we open our eyes again, we are surprised at what we see - still all the same problems and issues, but bigger.  And yet we still do not change our attitudes.

And if you close your eyes
Does it almost feel like you've been here before

How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

Now we face war and death where grudges and resentments that go back both to biblical times and to the horrors of the previous century, but still contained within our ancestral inheritance, resurface.  So are we going to deal with our inherent cyclical flaws or just stay within the loop of continual failure that we have been in for two millennia?

Astrologically we have the upcoming, very potent omen of a hugely explosive event (Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Taurus) – in simple terms some kind of hugely disruptive event that, possibly shockingly and suddenly, could be life changing.  We can see the raising to the ground of people and buildings in both Ukraine and Gaza.   If this situation were to continue to develop we would be affected both physically and financially.

We can choose to close our eyes, but we cannot escape the results on the lives of our world.  At this Last Quarter Moon, Saturn aspects nothing.   Saturn’s role is to teach us through limitations and necessity - and right now he is unharnessed.   We have left behind the moral (Saturn) law of following a code of ethical beliefs and replaced them with greed, with the idolatory of celebrity and with the purchasing power of money.

There are those who certainly desire war, and this Last Quarter Moon chart highlights the charts of both the USA and Biden.   Wars make money and allow the ability to cover up financial and other dealings.  Also remember that Joe Biden is experiencing a ‘moment’ within his astrology that at his age is more likely to propel him from hero to zero rather than the other way around.  The USA is about to have the last exact ‘hit’ of its Pluto return – a return that transforms countries in terms of power and empire.   As the East and other parts of the world rise up, America is trying to cling on to its top dollar status.  These wars are so much bigger than the territories that are seemingly being fought over.  That was clear as the media dropped the ‘pandemic war’ the instant Ukraine appeared on the scene; and Ukraine is now dropped from media view in favour of Israel.  What next?

How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

Jupiter and Saturn are the planets that sit between our personal planets, reflecting our personal attitudes, and the outer planets that reflect the collective unconscious.  Jupiter is approaching Uranus – if we don’t make changes from the point of view of the ‘bigger picture overview’, we will be forced into change when these guys meet in April next year.  And, whilst Saturn aspects no planets, he does make a very favourable aspect to the nodes – our destiny axis, the points of fate. We may consider ourselves totally powerless to affect what is going on in any way but, if we believe in a connected universe, we are not powerless.  We can, if we choose, close our eyes and escape to a beautiful beach or warmer climes where we can put unpleasant things out of our minds.  But when we open our eyes again it’s like we never went away.   There is just one way forward – changing ourselves and our own attitudes by raising our consciousness and raising our awareness in order to extract ourselves from an endless repeating loop.   However, if we look at Saturn from the point of view of being Father Time, we are now running out of time to influence change, just as the Pompeiians ran out of time.

When we close our eyes, we can go within.    We can go to a higher level and use our thoughts to join with others to try and influence bringing peace to our world.   We can take our vibration to the highest frequency of love rather than the low ‘wetiko’ level of fear.   We can do this on our own or we can make it more powerful by joining with ‘power of eight’ type groups.  There is no ‘right’ side; no group has ‘right’ on their side.  Mainstream media is always trying to influence us – it is not our friend.   It’s a trap to draw us into toxicity.   Our true power lies in our ability to use our own thoughts to raise humanity as a whole.  The benefits are twofold – positive thoughts for humanity enter the plasma energy and our own consciousness is raised.   This is a time where it is vital to raise our awareness and, therefore, the consciousness of society as a whole.
