Divisiveness and Hollowing out the soul
We continue the intense energy of eclipse season with a very powerful solar eclipse on June 21st at zero degrees of Cancer. Zero degrees of Cancer (a cardinal or action sign) is regarded as a ‘world’ point, so this period is likely to reflect significant global events, although they are not always apparent on the actual eclipse date – they can be in play well beforehand and continue for some weeks after. This is also the time of the summer solstice when the days are at their longest, normally a time of merriment and celebrations. But the mood is tense as is often the case during eclipse season – the energy is turbulent and may even be reflected in the behavior of our Earth.
Plant seeds with courage
So this Eclipse acts as a doubly super New Moon. Eclipses can show as tipping points or game changing moments in our lives, whilst New Moons are always about new beginnings and new intentions. Eclipse times are always influenced by the presence nearby of either the Dragon’s Head or the Dragon’s Tail (the Moon’s nodes) – this time it is the Dragon’s Head or North Node. This really adds to the importance of new beginnings, but it also carries the need to withstand difficulties and to find the courage amidst these weird times to allow in new energy. It is challenging to find this courage right now though, because added to the crazy eclipse energy, we have Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter and Mercury all retrograde, with Neptune standing still, preparing to also go into retrograde motion.
The energy of this eclipse demands action, but with so many planets retrograde it’s like trying to run with your legs tied together; so we are at a point where everything feels ‘stuck’. But there are opportunities with this retrograde motion to still our minds and to re-evaluate and re-assess our attitudes and actions as to how we will move forward as we feel able.
Mars will get into warrior mode by the end of June, but this may mean that early July, when he makes a square to the eclipse point, may be particularly volatile. We are already seeing civil unrest and issues between India and China – both countries are on the eclipse path and both are nuclear armed. Einstein once said that World War 3 would be so devastating for the world that World War 4 would be fought with sticks and stones.
So at this New Moon I can’t stress enough how important it is to really consider new attitudes together with daily spiritual meditational practices on a regular level to achieve a consciousness that allows our subconscious mind to positively influence our behavior patterns. If enough people do this then this positive behavior can go viral.
Willful amnesia
The lunar eclipse in early June, as I said in my last blog, was in Sagittarius – it was asking for awareness and an ability to look at the bigger picture – a time to break from willful amnesia and direct ourselves to a higher level of thinking and consciousness. I also spoke in earlier blogs of 2020 as a time when the traditions and structures that are familiar and make us feel safe would be broken down. I have to say that I wasn’t expecting this to be expressed quite so literally with the destruction and vandalism of our statues and with big companies like British Airways and Virgin struggling for survival. Lunar eclipses are generally much more emotional in their effect and this one seems to have been particularly pole-axing for many.
Divisiveness in the tribe
Cancer links to the Moon – our body, our emotions and what we need inwardly to feel safe and nurtured. The sign of Cancer is the most powerful symbol of the family and the mother and our tribe - the people we instinctively gravitate towards and see a common ground in. I tend to think that we still hold a kind of primordial instinct as to where we feel safe and who we feel safe with. The Moon is also about food and family and how we feed the family. So all very topical at this eclipse that we are concentrating on poor families who just can’t afford to feed their children. What we see right now is a divisiveness in terms of money and race, as well as a divisiveness between families and friends caused by the virus. And, of course, Cancer is about emotions and our ability to be human. Consider how dehumanising and divisive it is to us emotionally to have to wear a mask!
If we allow emotional divisiveness and fear to permeate, our souls will be chipped away from the inside out – they will become hollow. And when our souls become empty and hollow we will lose our Soul’s purpose. The will and spirit of society risks being drilled out and broken, as the darkness of divisiveness is allowed to feed off our souls. Already through the virus there is fear, there is loneliness, there are ruined businesses. The certainty and safety of the future that gives us succour (the Moon) is now uncertain. We are experiencing almost the antithesis of being human, as certain members of families are denied the power of the human touch and human presence. We are sanitizing our bodies to avoid a virus, we are bowing to controls that would never have been allowed under any other circumstances and now we are sanitizing our history. They did that in Orwell’s 1984 and society became hollow and meaningless. In 1984 history was actually rewritten and there was Newspeak – the approved language.
Higher consciousness and changing the narrative
We are at a fork in the road now. We face a new socio economic era at the end of the year when Jupiter and Saturn meet; we are already in the midst of the breaking down of an old order, which implies some kind of reset. Even the World Economic Forum described a 4th Industrial Revolution that they say will be a great reset – exactly the words some astrologers have been using about this year’s new cycles. This, the WEF say, will change humanity, re-define what it is to be human and merge man with machine into high tech bodies. This is very similar to what I have been warning repeatedly over my last blogs and this is why it is so important to be aware. I’ve also been warning that the reset is likely to be financial. How much longer can we keep spending money that doesn’t exist? The eclipse may well be reflected in an event that will trigger some kind of financial reset.
When Jupiter and Saturn meet in December, Saturn will have greater strength, whilst Jupiter will tend to ramp up his volume. Above all Saturn demands that we take personal responsibility. We have chosen to be here at this time, so now we must take responsibility to shape the future we want to see. Saturn in Aquarius puts an emphasis on areas of society that are different or alien and on those parts of society who feel marginalized. But Aquarius above all is about equality and freedom and fairness. We can have some kind of spiritual rebirth in society but what type of new society do you want to see? Before we risk hurtling towards a controlled demolition of our lives, facilitated by the negativity of the Newspeak of mainstream media and the dehumanisation of merging with AI, then it is vital we allow ourselves to work at the highest level of consciousness and take personal responsibility for shaping our society. We must get in touch with our gut instincts and our heart centre. We must vision what we want and trust in the power of the vision and the dream. We must meditate regularly and strongly. This makes it far more important to not allow ourselves to be disempowered, to not allow our society to be divided through fear, race or hatred of a group as a whole because of the action of one member of that group. That is why at this New Moon it is more important than ever to set intentions to raise consciousness and to take personal responsibility for thoughts and actions.
The Mayan Long Count
Remember 2012 and the prophecy that the end of the Mayan Long count marked the end of the world? Really that marked the end of one civilization period and the beginning of another. At that end point date we were experiencing global events of political and economic turmoil which have led us to the point we are at today – the fork in the road. The next count began on 21 December 2012, and it was said that there would be a collapse in belief systems and a time of unity for a cause, which would create civil unrest and protest movements. Jose Arguelles, who did much to educate us on Mayan traditions, said that everything we know, everything we are, is about to undergo a radical alteration. It was hard then to see how that would play out but not so hard now. So this echoes the real importance of knowing that our thoughts become intentions and our intentions become actions.
Stemming the hollowing of our souls
Lockdown has been divisive in itself. Whilst many are furloughed or still working, many have lost their jobs and perhaps have very little money to feed their children. We can have a better society but it needs to be our version and not the version of those who seek to manipulate society for their own aims. I saw Saturn in Aquarius in two ways – restrictions on our freedom, more control of the group, possibly leading to greater digital surveillance or learning that life is better within a community where we all pull together for a common good and where each one of us capitalises on our own particular skill – in effect our own Soul’s purpose. Which side of the fork in the road will you now choose to take? Be aware of the bigger picture and take your own responsibility for the building of a better society. The agenda of divisiveness cannot be allowed to bring about a society shaped by controls, surveillance and the hollowing out of our souls.
The power of the group
The energy of Aquarius is about coming together as a group, forming communities and supporting each other. But we have to participate in the creation of the group. Consider the group as a hive of bees or a colony of ants, both of whom are structured societies (Capricorn). Fellow astrologer, Pam Gregory, reminded me that the prime motive of the beehive is the protection of the hive and, therefore, its longevity. Bees instinctively come together to quell any invasion – they are all soldiers working for the common good. So as we see the functioning of our society being invaded in an attempt to divide, we must come together to protect it so that we can live in a society that pulls together.
First we need awareness of the dangers in order to raise our consciousness and awareness. We must remember the power of the mind to influence not just our own actions but the actions of others. Stay calm and determined with regular meditation practice and envision the better society you want to see. “Through meditation we can install the necessary neurological hardware of an ideal self”, (Dr. Joe Dispenza). I’ve spoken many times about Dr. Joe Dispenza and his practice of heart centred meditation. The energy of our hearts has the power to ‘infect’ just as much as a virus does. But it ‘infects’ in a good way and as we use our visionary thoughts to influence others so we create a ripple effect which has the power to go ‘viral’.
The future informs the past – that better society we vision is out there in the future, but it is informed by the actions we take now. It won’t magically happen. Connect to your instincts, connect to your heart and connect to others through your thoughts. Above all don’t permit divisiveness and hatred, which facilitates the agendas of others. Plant seeds now with courage to stem the hollowing out of our souls.
