Eyes Wide Shut

Finally I feel able and empowered to write again- something I just couldn’t seem to do as we went into ‘lockdown’.   Anyone who knows me knows that I am a social animal who talks a lot – and I mean a lot.   Events of the last two weeks plus have forced me to go within – no bad thing really I guess.   As a Gemini I have a need to understand things logically and rationally.   I have a need to ‘join the dots’ so to speak and until I have done that I find it difficult to make meaningful comments on any given situation.

So have I joined the dots yet you may ask?   And the answer is no, not totally but I feel a bit more joined up than I was.  And as I am writing this on April 2nd I am drawn to look at the positions of the planets as I do so.   There are three main planetary aspects I am drawn to, partly because this is what is being reflected in my head right now and why I am being pulled to write my thoughts at this present time.

Firstly we have Mercury (planet of the mind and communications) in Pisces and approaching Neptune also in Pisces; Neptune rules Pisces and that’s where he is most comfortable.   Now Mercury really doesn’t like being in Pisces because he can’t do his job of disseminating information properly.  Mercury likes whizzing around in the air – he likes flying.   But Pisces is a water sign and Mercury hasn’t graduated much beyond armbands in his swimming lessons.   He is swamped by emotions, by compassion, by sob stories – which is all great, but as I said he can’t do his job properly. Mercury rules two signs.  In Virgo he does an admirable job of sorting out information that is useful and required, and in Gemini he takes all the info, joins the dots, connects people together and sends the information out to everyone.   In Pisces he can’t separate truth from lies, he is drowning in the emotions and he is running backwards and forwards like a headless chicken.   This is compounded by his closeness to Neptune who has no boundaries or sense of containment whatsoever.

What does this mean you might ask?   Well everything is happening behind some kind of smokescreen and Neptune does that very easily - in Pisces he invented smokescreens.   Neptune clouds, confuses and deceives.   He is brilliant at creating illusions, which makes it very hard to join the dots.  So it’s really hard for us to have some clear idea of what is happening in the background that we aren’t aware of.

Now I’m not saying that this COV-ID19 is not real but what I am saying for sure is that with Mercury and Neptune together in Pisces there is a lot that is going to be hidden from view and it is for sure not the scenario where you can trust that good decision making is taking place.

Now I know I did not necessarily warn that we should take care in case of a virus specifically.  But I did say that structures that we hold familiar and safe were likely to be broken down during 2020.   I did say that ‘too big to fail’ companies and corporates could collapse.   I questioned whether we would have a recession or a depression.  And I did say that I wondered if the new Jupiter/Saturn cycle at the end of this year would augur something as small as the Industrial Revolution (which wasn’t small) or whether it would be as big as a civilization change.  But my last article also bore the title ‘we are where we are meant to be’.  And that means that our lives right now are reflected within the cycle of the Universe.  We have not had this extreme reaction to other viruses (or is it viri?) in the past and that is because this time it forms part of a much bigger message and a much bigger cycle.  Trust me though, that doesn’t make me any happier to live through this.

The big line up of planets in Capricorn has broken with Mars and Saturn having moved into Aquarius right now.  But the Capricorn line up gave the potential for draconian type controls that we have now, the like of which most of us have never seen in our lifetime or thought we ever would.   Now you put that against a sub layer of confusion, deception, lies and the inability to see clearly what is really happening and you have a swamp type situation ripe and ready for where we are now.   When there is great fear people will naturally want someone – anything - to keep them safe.  And if they think that something is going to keep them safe from what they fear the most then they will automatically agree to things that they never would do under normal circumstances.

So fast forward, and here we are on April 2nd as I write this, in a situation which was unthinkable a month ago.   Less than a month ago I was travelling to Brighton for a concert, wandering around in Brighton’s famous Lanes and enjoying coffee in the sunshine and meals in restaurants – and yet it almost seems like another lifetime.

Mars has just passed Saturn in Aquarius.  Mars is a natural significator of a virus and Saturn is containment, walls and boundaries.  Has the containment worked?  Pluto is a natural significator of a pandemic and he is almost exactly right now with Jupiter (they reach absolute exactness on April 4th/5th).   Now Jupiter has a habit of expanding everything he touches, but in Capricorn he doesn’t work so well.   He is forced to be more realistic.   So just maybe this outbreak peaks now.  Generally Jupiter is one of the good cops (Mars, Saturn are the bad cops), but he can over do or over exaggerate things – although maybe not as much in Capricorn. But I am hoping we see some kind of peak at this point.

2020 is a historic year of new cycles.   As Saturn and Pluto (bad cops) met in January we were hearing about the first deaths from this novel coronavirus strain.   They only met this one time exactly in January, and what I didn’t consider beforehand was this could also be read as a trigger for mass hysteria.   Despite what everyone was thinking the economy was in a bad way anyway – now we don’t have to blame anyone but a pandemic for the collapse.  Our freedoms are being willingly given up in return for a promise to keep us safe.  Will we regret this?

As I have said before the new Jupiter/Saturn cycle beginning at the end of this year is likely to herald a new society much more based on AI.  As Saturn entered Aquarius we saw self isolation and social distancing on our radars (Saturn = restriction and Aquarius = freedom and the group).  Saturn will re-enter Capricorn at the end of June so that is the point when we may see some relaxation to the rules, albeit still with some controls (Capricorn) in place.  However, once Saturn fully enters Aquarius in December - what then?   With Saturn representing control and rules and Aquarius representing technology we will perhaps see some kind of digital control, or even a surveillance which reaches deep inside the body.   This would have been unthinkable but with a virus and fear thrown into the mix it is just possible.   Throw into the mix also that we have a square between Saturn (control) and Uranus (technology) and we have a double whammy of potential control via technology.   And with 5G about to be thrown into the mix too this is so easy now in an age when our phones can be used to track our movements or possibly even something injected alongside the potential vaccine.  Maybe sophisticated controls could even show our innermost reactions – but now of course I am just being ridiculous because of course we aren’t in some Orwellian dystopian nightmare!!  But just this morning I read that Matt Hancock, the Health Secretary, was suggesting that we may in future wear a wristband proving that we have had the disease/have immunity to it.  This is what I mean when I say that ‘we are where we are meant to be’.   It’s just that sometimes it can be difficult in advance to read how exactly it will all play out.

So where’s the good news you may ask?   For a start Mercury won’t be long in confusing Pisces – he moves into Aries on April 11th.    I wrote some while ago that we would need to dig deep to find our grit and our resilience to get through coming times.  And that is true.  Go within.  Find some calm through meditation.  Don’t get thrown into Pisces confusion because it will also undermine your immunity.  And don’t abandon critical thinking in the face of this confusion.  Already we can breathe cleaner air and see how animals are reclaiming some of their space within nature.  Goats are venturing into towns and an area where I sometimes walk with my dog is full of unsuspecting pheasants who are no longer threatened by shoots.   Gratitude is another area of good news too.   It has never been more important to feel grateful for what you do have, rather than sorrow for what you don’t.   We are discovering what really are the important things in life.  Part of that for me is people – most of whom I can only speak to on screen right now.  But they are still there.   And the small kindnesses that others are doing, sometimes for people they have never met before.   The dedication of the medical and those ancillary services that support the medical people.   So keep thinking of others.   Use the time to adopt different behaviours.  Grow your own.   Don’t waste.   Admire the beauty of nature.   But above all don’t go around with your eyes wide shut.   See beyond the smokescreens.  See what’s around you that’s good rather than what’s bad.   It’s only when some of our freedoms are taken away that we really begin to appreciate how rich we were and still are.

And remember nature will win.  And we will enter a better world.
