You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone
As we arrive at the New Moon on October 16th in the sign of Libra, the waters are beginning to get decidedly choppy. The breaking down of an old world order (signified by the huge line up of planets in Capricorn) now encounters a period of high intensity, tension and extreme volatility. New Moons are always about new intentions and new beginnings. What can we learn from this New Moon and its sign that will help us to ride the waves of this stormy weather? For starters some key words for the energy of Libra will help us - harmony, balance, democracy, co-operation, civilised, partnership, peace-loving. However, Libra is also an action sign so, whilst on the surface Librans may appear a bit flip floppy as they weigh things up in their minds, they will by the same token have a need to put some action behind their decisions.
This New Moon is a Supermoon - it’s very close to Earth and, therefore, exerts a great deal of energy and influence. It is part of a very very dynamic planetary configuration. It is opposite Mars (anger, violence, protests, courage, war and also the virus) and squares the line up of Capricorn planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto) that signify this breakdown in the old world order. You don’t have to take my word that there is a Reset on its way. The World Economic Forum posts it in plain sight via the title of its recent conference - ‘The Great Reset - Revitalising Global Partnerships’. The Founder and Executive Chairman even stated that ‘the pandemic represents a rare but narrow window of opportunity to reflect, reimagine and reset our world’. Emphasis was made that ‘countries that have national internets and national clouds damage our efforts to address the collective efforts’. It was also said that we can’t have the internet of everything (which is what 5G is going to deliver) without having the internet of everyone. So I would determine from this that there should be no doubt that there is a desire for a globally centralised internet operation which involves ‘you’.
Now astrologically the new era that beckons in December is one represented by Saturn and Jupiter meeting at zero degrees of Aquarius. In this particular sign Saturn is stronger and Saturn represents structure, limitations, control and restrictions. Aquarius is an air sign - so our new era will be one that is not necessarily based on capitalism and mass production as with the previous Earth scenario, but rather technological, mental and potentially involving the sky and space. Taking the World Economic Forum’s statements a stretch further we could look forward to control via this global internet, but will it be a control of us or one where we are in the driving seat? Two different scenarios. I am convinced there are technological discoveries in terms of free energy using the Sun as well as huge discoveries in medicine out there - but ones that don’t make money for anyone so they aren't available to us.
The last time we had a new Air cycle of Jupiter and Saturn was actually in 1226 - that’s why it’s such a big deal. In 1226 the meeting was also in Aquarius and pretty close to this upcoming one at 2 degrees. In addition to air and technology Aquarius also represents freedom, liberty and fairness. Astrologers like to look back to past events to give us some clues as to what might happen now - history has a habit of repeating itself although not in quite the same way and against a different backdrop of culture and society. In 1225 we saw the affirmation of the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta is still one of the most important documents in history because it established the principle that no-one is above the law and guaranteed the rights of individuals, the rights of justice and the right to a fair trial. The Magna Carta was the foundation of accountability, popular democracy and the importance of engaged citizens. At heart Aquarius is a humanitarian sign that seeks fairness and liberty, so there is an opportunity for us to enter an age centred on humanity rather than the push for more and more money. I remember the musical Hair which praised the Age of Aquarius as a future Golden Age. We are still in the Age of Pisces but the Age of Aquarius is not so far away now. It’s important that we visualise this Golden Age because if we slip the other way we enter a new civilisation of singularity where man merges with AI, technology controls and we lose the sense of what it means to be human..
There are tremendous evolutionary energies at work right now - we can choose to try to ignore them or we can choose to regenerate and to renew. The basic structure of our lives is changing and it is necessary that we build new structures ready for the new world order. We’re having an enormous ‘spring clean’. All the spider’s webs, the dirt in the corners and the nasty bugs in the attic and the basement need flushing out - the toxins, the secrets and the lies. It’s not a particularly pleasant cleaning session but we are here at a point where we are heading for a particularly intense and highly volatile period. Mercury is now retrograde in Scorpio - secrets can’t stay secret forever. So we may even see some kind of disclosure - possibly a disclosure that shocks us. I’ve said before - did E.T. really go home?
We have watched the storm coming towards us and now the storm is beginning to hit - we are entering its eye. We are seeing how big institutions that are a traditional part of our lives are being rocked in a totally unexpected way. If I’d predicted this might happen a year ago I would probably have been carted off in a straitjacket. Just take Hollywood and the world of entertainment. Finding joy in being entertained and being an entertainer is a basic part of the human spirit - crush the spirit and you crush the will. One of the latest ads suggests that Fatima needs to stop being a ballerina and just doesn’t know she should retrain in IT, implying Fatima is pretty stupid not to realise that herself. But Fatima became a ballerina because that was what her soul’s code was telling her to do - she would as likely choose a life in IT as work down a coal mine - both of which would crush her.
Just as this New Moon is a Supermoon so Mars is a Super Mars adding to the extreme volatility of this period. We have a choice - fall further down into an abyss of anger and fear or find Mars’ strength and courage to find the Libran idea of harmony and balance. Harmony suggests that we live in a universe that is interconnected and thereby achieves balance - just as astrology has always demonstrated. Our own bodies, as well as the bodies and make up of the animal world and the plant world, all rely on homeostasis - the ability to maintain a healthy regulation of their internal physiological make up which enables and ensures survival, harmony and balance. The archetypal planetary principles that underpin civilisation demonstrate the interconnectedness of all things. We rely on an invisible ordering of the cosmos which acts as a mirror on our own lives - as above so below and as below so above.
The cure must never be worse than the disease. The Magna Carta was based on the idea of ‘engaged citizens’, so rather than the ‘whack a mole’ approach where we attack every ‘symptom’ in a wild, out of proportion panic response, we must view the ‘whole’ and choose to correct the problem in its wholeness. To do that we have to avoid coming to decisions from a basis of fear. Not easy I know and the only way I’ve found to do that is by meditation and raising both spiritual and philosophical beliefs. In a state of fear our brains are not able to access the area that determines logical decision making. So a regular ritual of meditation together with some kind of exercise for the spirit - whether that is yoga, qigong, tai chi, dance, song or merely walking in nature - are absolute requirements. Real harmony is when our logical left brain works in cooperation with our more creative right brain - that’s when we can find our way to real solutions to current dilemmas.
A deeper dive into the intrinsic energy of this New Moon shows that there is a potential for brilliance if we use the innate talents that have been gifted to us in a ‘different’ way - one that embraces vision, leadership and wisdom - so that we can take the first steps to transition from one type of civilisation to the next. Maybe it’s not a question of finding that one leader who can help us, but more the wholistic approach where we go back to being civilised members of a true community
We need harmony of action thought and deed. Harmony within the ecosystems of agriculture and environment as well as within the ecosystem of our body. Harmony within our community where we live alongside each other in a state of civilised co-operation. Harmony where we tolerate and listen to other people’s points of view. Harmony where we are just down to earth ‘nice’ to each other. Harmony where we don’t spray our crops full of chemicals and where we respect the animal nation. Harmony where we respect planet Earth and its atmosphere - our garden that nourishes us in so many ways. We arrogantly think that we can control everything - we can’t. Mother Nature has a habit of rising up and showing us just how powerless we are.
Right now I am coming to the end of two week’s of isolation following a trip to Spain. While I was there I watched a group of people in a beach restaurant singing and dancing along with a singer as they celebrated one of their group’s birthdays. It is so long since I had seen this type of joy and fun that it made me realise how quickly I had forgotten it alongside the draconian ‘whack a mole’ rules we are experiencing now. It’s so remarkably easy to forget what freedom really means, to have the spirit crushed and remarkably easy to allow fear to turn fellow against fellow. If we get more ridiculous situations where a family member cannot comfort another during a funeral, or The Lords Prayer is an unacceptable chanting then we will surely see the Mars energy rise up in backlash.
Harmony - Just Harmony.
